Fringe 3x12 - Concentrate and Ask Again [initial reaction]
What the hell, show.
You were doing so well the first nine episodes and now you give me this? The safety of a universe is contingent upon who Peter Bishop ends up with?
Are you kidding????
I really hate Peter's Special Destiny. Making him interesting like that is rage inducing. This is what I was afraid of. Season 3 Alias. I hated the romantic pairing became the be all and end all of the show. HATED.
It was why I dropped Alias in the first place.
I thought the whole First People, Machine thing was far more interesting than who Peter ends up with. You disappoint me, Professor Professorson.

It's hard to concentrate on the things I liked when the last few minutes of the show is inducing a lot of anger.
I love Nina playing an active role in solving the mystery of the First People (I was very amused when I saw one of the books read: 'Dr. Spock') but I wanted more Astrid.
Also, Martouf makes his return! It's so weird to see Martouf in a suit!
I continue to ship Olivia with non-Peter shaped people. I continue to love the connections Olivia is making but Simon was right, no one should be able to read what other people are thinking exactly. It seemed like Olivia was trying to convince Simon as well as herself that people like them can have a normal life. Olivia is right to a certain extent except for someone with Simon's abilities. It will be impossible to live normally with that sort of ability.
Once again we see the horrors Walter committed before he was reformed and answers his question: 'Why would they kill scientists?'
Except I felt the whole message was muted. The episode was trying to be too many things at once.
I did like the small moments, the moment when Olivia subtly turned her coffee cup around to see the check mark on the milk and the way Olivia sort of smiled when Walter played punch buggy. (The amused smile reminded me of altOlivia... and... is that a sign of altOlivia rubbing off on Olivia? Or seeing Walternate then seeing Walter it was a natural Olivia reaction?). Or the moment when Walter turned to Simon to apologize but Simon turned his head and he has this: 'don't you even try'.
Honestly though if they don't move away from this stupid Peter story line they're going to lose me and I don't want that because Olivia and the rest of the cast are fantastic. Also, their current doomsday/first people storyline does not make a lick of sense.
This was about two universes in conflict and to reduce it to Peter choosing one Olivia over the other? Stupid and tastes bad in my mouth. Writers, stop making stupid plot decisions.
On a shallow note: I love the return of Olivia's Beanie! I missed that!
