I'm watching [profile] chasarumba's fantastic Casino Royale vid, Skin on repeat. I can't believe how she could pack a whole movie in just three minutes! Skin is such a beautiful synchronization of source and music and just... the cuts and the effects. It's simply breathtaking.

Moar interviews, this time from [personal profile] angstbunny:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on ...

Here be the questions in all its rambling glory:

1. Of all your WIPs and plot bunnies, which one is the one you want written the most? Like, you can just get it DONE and have it come out perfect.

Oh, man. Trying to make me choose between my babies? What I really, really want done aside from the Journeyman/Life has to be the Harsh Realm/Life crossover. I like the idea of Dani trapped in a virtual post-apocalyptic world, piecing her identity together and realizing her perfect life (the fiance, the career advancement, her place in society) is a lie. And in parallel, Charlie is also trying to figure out who this missing police officer is, because somehow through his investigations he keeps coming across the name Dani Reese. Curiosity compels him to look further.

The reason I want this done and why I want this finished because I like to see how different this Charlie and Dani are from the Charlie and Dani we know. I know that without Dani Reese to back his play and protect him his crazy and raw edges are a lot more transparent and he's a LOT more guarded and that the Dani Reese in the virtual world is a lot harder but their core characteristics remain. And, of course I want to end it because I already see how the ending plays out in my head, Dani going against the tyrant in the virtual world, choosing her imperfect life outside over the perfect life she's 'living in' and she saves herself the exact moment Charlie finds the warehouse Dani is kept and he witnesses her wake-up and the first thing he says to her is, "I'm here."

The really annoying thing is I can't seem to write it DOWN!

2. Don't think about it. Just answer what comes to mind first: favorite line you've ever written.

Another hard one! This immediately comes to mind:
It was like… falling into a nightmare, like glass shattering in the silence and knowing she can never ever put the pieces back together again. This was what it was like to be Minako Aino

3. The badass chick showdown: Reese. Aeryn. Fiona. Irina. Buffy. Zoe. Who wins?

Wow, all the tough questions, huh? *stares*

Oh, man. I really don't know. I think if there's gonna be a showdown, I'll go about it tournament style. Meaning the fights would go down as: Fiona vs. Reese, Irina vs. Zoe and Aeryn vs. Buffy.

The people to really beat would be Aeryn and Buffy.

a) Irina and Zoe would be even and while I would love for SpyMommy to win I think Zoe would win. As awesome as Irina is, as the head of an organization she doesn't have a lot of opportunity to get into hand to hand skirmishes all that often. She might be a sharp fighter but she might be a little rusty. On the other hand, because of the shenanigans of the crew, Zoe gets to fight with almost anyone every other day.

This might be a close fight and Irina would get a lot of shots in before Zoe manages to disable Irina. This would be a beautiful fight to watch, two ladies of war in combat but the decisive blow would come from Zoe and her attack would be something right out of Mal or Jayne's playbook. The move would be so unlike Zoe Irina won't be able to predict it.

Irina would accept her loss with dignity and, I think humor. Next time Zoe and Irina would meet in a fight, Zoe won't pull that trick again.

b) Fiona vs. Reese. Unfortunately, contrary to all my wishes we never really get to see Reese fight, we almost did in Find Your Happy Place but Rand decided to go on another direction with Reese and Crews in that ice cream scene.

(Um, in case anyone's interested, the original version went something like this: instead of two dealers in the ice cream truck there was only one dealer slinging in the back of the truck and he runs away forcing the partners to chase after him. They corner the perp in a bathroom and get drawn into a brawl. Crews gets hit on the head and goes down, Dani goes after the perp but the perp manages to knock her gun from her hand. Instead of backing down Dani manages to get her arms around the perp's neck. I imagine she has a sleeper hold on him. The perp grabs her shirt, slams her into the wall. Rand describes the fight as close and brutal and Dani holds on to him and only lets go when the perp catches her off guard with a punch. There's another instance that was changed in Black Friday where Dani body slams another perp into a van.)

In canon, we do see Reese doesn't hesitate to jump a guy who has like, a hundred pounds on her in Crushed.

Also, I'm going to incorporate what I know about Sarah Shahi's RL training to Dani's fighting skills. She's a brown belt in Taekwando and according to one interview she studied Krav Maga, which if true, is like one of the most brutal forms of martial arts known to man. In fact, having seen the Martial Arts quest episode in Discovery channel the guy undergoing the training likened Krav Maga as: 'Being thrown in the middle of a prison yard and hanging on until someone saves your ass.'

Actually, Reese struck me as a brawler. She's small and knows she's at a disadvantage so she's gonna say screw forms and just go at you with anything she has on hand (something Powerless also showed). Also, in a fight, I kind of think Dani's composed. I noticed when things get hairy Dani doesn't freak out, the more pressure she's under the more composed she becomes with but with a thin layer of anger fraying at the edges.

As for Fiona, she likes to fight. I don't think she's had any real formal training, I think she learned to fight on the street and on the job. Fighting is fun for Fiona and she's also not above pulling tricks. She's slight so she's gonna do anything to win. She'll poke your eye, she'll bite you, she'll kick you in the crotch. Nothing is sacred for Fi.

This fight I'm gonna call a draw. While Fi doesn't have the formal training Dani has to contend with Fi's years of experience, on the other corner though, Fi has to contend with Dani's sheer bloody mindedness. Dani is not going to go down easy, she'll probably be bleeding profusely but she's going to keep coming at you. Dani's relentless, she's not gonna give up.

c) Aeryn vs. Buffy. This could go either way for me. Buffy has her slayer powers and her instinct for fighting, she's also creative in a fight. Aeryn is also slightly stronger than a regular human and has been fighting before Buffy could even walk. Aeryn knows moves Buffy doesn't. Buffy also has a tendency to let a fight go longer than necessary while Aeryn, like a Krav Maga practitioner is straight forward. She'll go in for the kill immediately.

If this was a real match, I think Fiona and Reese would be out for the count, they'd be too injured to participate in anymore fights. If Irina loses to Zoe, Zoe then faces Buffy. I wager Zoe and Aeryn have the same style of fighting, if Zoe were to fight Buffy, Buffy would win against Zoe but not before Zoe gets in a few hits. Unfortunately for Zoe she doesn't have super strength so she's out for the count.

Now, if Zoe faced Aeryn, this would be an interesting match, although, perhaps not as spectacular. It would be a great technical fight though. I don't know who would win here too.

Um, that doesn't really answer your question, does it?

4. How would YOU write S3 Life? :D

Actually, I've been thinking about this for a couple of days now and I have an urge to write a sort of virtual S3 story.

If I were to write S3 I'd go about the way Burn Notice is handling it and probably look to The Wire as a framework too. I'll bring back all the elements Rand & Co., dropped: Constance, Davis, Jen and the ghost of Jack Reese. I'd also tone down the quirky deaths and add in mundane deaths hand-in-hand with the quirky. I would also want to deal with the fallout of Dani's kidnapping, how it affects her, how she'll deal with it. How the brass will deal with Charlie going off the radar again.

For starters I'd probably have a season long big bad: The mayor, who according to the casting scripts in season 2, was part of Rayborn's group.

The following elements will be incorporated into the season:

a) Dani's search for Jack Reese
b) Fallout from the events during the season finale (both personal and professional)
c) Season long case ala The Wire that may or may not be related to the Mayor and in a tangental way, related to the Conspiracy but not really.
d) Charlie dealing with the question: 'What will he do now that he has no conspiracy to solve?'

Seever would return as a compare and contrast to Reese and as per the season finale, Seever would be promoted. She'd get the position Dani's after which would bring in an interesting dynamic between Seever and Reese.

But, for me, I think there would be a focus on Jack Reese and his relationship with his daughters (Dani Reese and Rachel Seybolt). Dani would want to know if her dad's dead or not. And in my S3, it would be unavoidable for Charlie to reveal the Conspiracy Wall to her, especially now that's she's not going to take 'No' as an answer. Powerless showed that Dani could be as relentless as Charlie but this would be a new flavor to Dani because this time it would be personal for her. It might even be a way to cope and ignore her feelings about getting taken by Roman.

(There's another dimension here too, something I mentioned before, about the possibility of Roman drugging her. No one would know though and Dani was distracted by the whole kidnapping thing and worrying about Charlie but she might also use this investigation to keep from wanting drugs. Although, this would make the season a LOT darker, on the other hand, they have to address Dani's addiction somehow.)

Ted would probably be missing the first few episodes enjoying Spain with Olivia.

Charlie's state of mind would be interesting. He's at peace, the realization about his feelings for Dani is... I think he's accepted it as a part of himself. He's not gonna push her. In fact their whole relationship is in this weird but not weird space. They know its there but they're not taking any steps towards it. Although they do spend more time with each other now and they're a little more involved with each other's personal lives but nothing physical has happened between them yet. Because this is a new thing for Dani, she's amazed at her feelings for Charlie, she's taking things slow partly because she's enjoying this revelation and partly because she really doesn't want things to change between them.

I'm two of minds about Charlie regarding Dani though, I think he'll hold on to her more be more protective than he was because of what happened and also because of what he feels for Dani. He's always been a sort of knight errant to his love interests and while he's at peace with himself there's also this part where he's confused because his first instincts towards people he loves is to protect them. On the other hand, he knows this is Dani, his partner and she'll feed him his lungs.

Oh, and of course, there's going to be this conflict if Charlie could let his obsession with the Conspiracy go. It would be an interesting parallel to what Dani will be going through in search of her father because unlike Charlie, Dani is sensible. She will do most of the leg work but she would eventually bring Charlie in in her investigation because she knows she works better with Charlie. With her partner.

And because this is my version of season 3 I will finally have that shootout I've been hankering for. It's a crime they never showed Crews and Reese in a genuine shootout! Because I think they would have rocked that scene. Old School Sheriffs FTW!

5. Marry, Shag, Cliff: Charlie Crews, Michael Westen, John Crichton.

Agggh. This one is hard! Alright, here goes. I think I might marry Charlie but I OTP him too much with Reese that it might just be a Vegas wedding and divorce him the very next week. Also, I'm afraid Reese would kill me. I would definitely shag Michael Westen. Although the Marry/Shag thing is interchangeable.

I'd cliff Crichton because as much as I'd want to shag or marry him I can't escape the fact that Crichton is very much a crazy person. Crazier than Charlie and Michael combined. But I don't want to cliff Crichton because he's been through a lot then again I'm sure Aeryn would be there with her prowler and save Crichton and then after saving Crichton Aeryn would pulverize me with her guns. Awesome.

Caught up with Castle, I do believe this show is getting better and better.

I continue to love the way they weaved in Castle's family into the show, balancing his relationships with his daughter and mother to his relationship with the detectives and of course, his own unique interactions with Beckett.

Bailey Chase continues to be God's gift to women and as long as his strutting and smirking I will continue to love him. I think I'd love Riley Finn more if Bailey was casted as Riley, that's neither here nor there so I'll move on.

Castle prying into Beckett's case would throw a wrench into this partnership and just when Beckett is really starting to appreciate Castle too. I even like the case here, it was interesting although the female assassin reminds me of the awesome female assassin in Life, which if I had the reality changing powers and Life was renewed for a third season, would return in the third season and make Charlie and Dani's lives interesting.

I also liked that the victim was a genuine nice guy who's secret actually makes him a better man. It was interesting.
