Fringe 4x05 -Novation
Nov. 5th, 2011 11:16 pmI knew it there is another 'verse! A third one!
How much did I love Peter taking over again? NOT ONE BIT.
Peter being so smug about shapeshifters just annoyed me even more. So, the one moment when Broyles said, 'We know all that, what about the new ones?' and Peter's smug smile vanishes? I cheered. Then the smug returned again. It's going to be such a joy seeing Peter again. A joy.
And the only reaction I had when Walter stepped away from Peter at the end was satisfaction. This isn't Peter's world anymore (and it never really was, his world is Walternate's world), the sooner he realizes that its him that's displaced and not the other way around, the better.
So is Olivia's latent universe shifting abilities coming into play? I'm pretty sure this was the parallel version of Olivia 1.0's universe shift back in season 1.
Walter and Nina's scene was a powerful one and I love seeing how Walter takes responsibility in setting in motion the destruction of both universes. It was something that was always pushed away in the original verse, it never really felt Walter took heart in what he did in destroying the universes because he was happy with Peter. Here, he has no recourse but to feel the full weight of his responsibility.
Another reason why I love this amberverse so much. Walter really feels the weight of his sins and also, Olivia wasn't as isolated and lonely growing up because she wasn't alone in taking care of Rachel. She had Nina take care of her too.
Honestly, I feel this Olivia is more well adjusted just for that reason. I mean, I don't really see Olivia 1.0 actively asking out Lincoln, too bad it was a wrong version of Lincoln!. It was hilariously awkward but I love that she was putting herself out there. Ask him out again, Olivia!
