Prisoner of Azkaban
Jul. 2nd, 2004 02:14 pmWell, it's official I am in love with Harry Potter. Recklessly and whole heartedly in love, the last fandom I fell for in a big way was Buffy and its all because of Cuaron and his vision of the HPverse. Prisoner of Azkaban had a realized world with real people and not just caricatures of a stereotype. The trio felt real, the world felt real. In fact the whole movie was an exercise in Magical Realism 101.
I loved every second of the movie and just fell deeply in love at every scene the first two movies didn't inspire this rabid love as PoA did. I mean this is the first time I really, really felt sorry for Harry. The mere fact that he struggled to find a happy memory for his patronus said a lot about Harry and how lonely he really was.
I also had a sense that the supporting cast had a life besides being Harry's schoolmates.
The musical score wasn't as intrusive as it once was and I am really enchanted by the 'Something Wicked this Way Comes' song.
Plus, the scene where Hermione was comforting a distraught and angry Harry and Harry reveals that Sirius Black was once a friend of his parents. Then the camera pulls back and we realize how far Ron was from Harry and Hermione, I had goosebumps on what it may imply for the future of the trio.
But really, it's also Hermione's movie. The brightest witch of her age? The brightest witch ever! She's just... Hermione at her best!
And Ron was adorable, him and his lion roar and his spider fear!
And the wonderfulness of the twins?
I can go on but I can't, the boss is back, I'll continue later on, I swear!
