Last night I happened to catch JAG, and they featured the NCIS team. I gotta say, I'm liking the NCIS team better than the JAG team. The characters in JAG never resonated to me, they all felt stiff and cardboard cut outs of the square-jawed Navy men and women. But NCIS was different, more like the CSI shows... they feel more real than the JAG people, they have more quirks and seem to really have an established backstory rather than a tacked on one.
Everytime the episode shifts back to JAG, its jarring, its like they operate in different universes, NCIS belongs to the 'real' world and JAG belongs to this idealistic world where almost all the servicemen are upstanding people. I believe that Mark Harmon's character was devious and hints that he could quite possibly be ruthless, on the other hand, i feel guilty liking the show and Harmon's character. I somehow felt disloyal to grissom and the original CSI team, which is really strange....
Short of it is: I think I'm gonna like NCIS more than I'm ever gonna like JAG,
