So... I don't usually comment about Philippine politics, I feel too many people are already commenting but... the stupid that is the Magdalo group just can't
pass without comment. A few hours ago a group of soldiers entered the Manila Peninsula and staged another mutiny just like what they did a few years ago in the Oakwood Mutiny debacle.

The group called for the resignation of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo because of her supposed corruption and even placed charges around the hotel to ensure that the military won't attack. They had nothing to go on but their 'convictions' and 'idealism' then as now, it ended with the Magdalo group surrendering because they didn't have the proof and balls to follow through on their plans. They were arrested and because Filipinos and the government are too soft for our own good, some of the soldiers were able to get off. So years passed and the heat died down and amazingly (but sadly, not surprising) AntonioTrillianes, the leader of the group ran for senate and won.

But since our criminal justice is slower than a snail Trillianes still had a case against him (how he became eligble for the Senate race is beyond me, once again, I think it's the case of politics of personality) and the courts required that he present himself but because he's an ass Trillianes decided that since he was already a senator he was too good for the justice system and ignored the summons.

Furious at this blatant brush off the judge issued a warrant for his arrest, unfortunately, the police were unable to arrest Trillianes and co. and thus started the six hour seige in Manila Peninsula and once again Trillianes started calls for GMA's resignation. He even tries to justify his actions by saying: “I stand before you today to fulfill my role as a former soldier and now as a senator of this country. I am standing for the rights of the oppressed.'

Seriously, what oppressed? You? And your poor soldier buddies? And what the frakking hell were they thinking? Honestly? A second coup attempt after the first one failed to gain any support, what made you think that a second one would get them the support? Especially now?

The economy is doing better than it did a few years ago, people are generally happier and the peso is finally doing well against the dollar. Business is booming.

Let's say that GMA is guilty of being corrupt where the hell is the evidence?

Because they really have nothing to go on but detain the media attention and really, not enough courage to stand for their convictions (which is actually a good thing since that meant there was no blood shed) Trillianes and his soldier buddies surrendered when the military responded by lobbing tear gas at them and a tank rammed the entrance. Trillianes said the reason why he surrendered was because of the administration's 'ruthless' action.

Excuse me? Ruthless?

Since freaking when? If you ask me, the governments been too soft on you and your little friends. Hell, I think this is the only country where the leaders of a coup/mutiny gets punished by becoming senators and the soldiers who followed them only get to do one hundred push-ups a day as punishment.

And now what happened? Now there's a freakin' curfew and if this becomes a full blown Martial Law the only people I'm going to blame is YOU. And thank you, Trillianes, ever so for making the Philippines a laughing stock again.
