[Initial Reactions] A Conspiracy of Kings

grimorieI did a read through of A Conspiracy of Kings but my initial thoughts circle back to this:
It never fails to amuse me how Oblivious to Love Attolia is to Dite's advances, I bet that's one of the reasons why Gen proposed the way he did, otherwise it would just pass Attolia by. Ahahahaha. It reminds me of another BAMF Ice Queen, Queen Arika from Negima, the love declaration had to literally hit Arika on the head. Eddis and Sounis romance is so simple in comparison! (But no less 'awwwwww' inducing!)
Plus, Gen really was stupid jealous of Dite! He was so jealous he was prepared to drop on Dite's head and kick him all the while Attolia was all oblivious even though Dite said it to her face!
Oh, you Attolian Monarchs!
Over all, I like Sophos and especially love the part when he is named the Lion of Sounis but to be honest I wanted more of Gen and Attolia and Eddis and a larger part of that bulk devoted to Attolia and Eddis. Although, I did love that friendship between Attolia and that Attolia, the country is still called Attolia despite Gen becoming Attolis.
I am also saddened that Eddis will become a queen without a country. Guys, guys, it hurts me that awesome Helen who became Eddis and ruled her court with kindness and love will be forced to leave Eddis because of an erupting volcano!
The Greater Powers of the Continent is making me wary too. I don't particularly feel like they really are that great an ally, plus all this making Mede into the Big Bad has to have a twist somewhere, right? Especially now that there will be a new emperor? I feel like uniting Eddis and Sounis under one king will become a double edged sword for our heroes.
That said, I'm calling it in the next book: Costis is the Attolian ambassador to Mede and Dite will do something important! But I also want more Attolia who is scary awesome and Eddis who is also a hardcore BAMF herself!
Now I can read some of the reviews I've bookmarked! Yay!
ETA: ZOMG! I found this really amazing fan trailer for The Thief, some of the scenes here match the scenes in my head its eerie! Yet awesome!
