I've been catching on my TV The Good Wife and Haven in particular. I've just started with Haven and I can't wait to get to the good parts. The show is like a mash-up between The X-files and Eureka.

The Good Wife - Season 2

This show is just amazing. Amazingly well written and nuanced and nothing is exactly black or white. I loved watching the Campaign shenanigans because any scene with Eli is, excuse the pun, gold. But of course its the relationships in the show that are stellar.

I love that the focus of the last half of the season is about Kalinda and Alicia, these two women who were so different initially and then building on a friendship that's just so fantastic. Then there's the second favorite relationship on the show: Will and Diane. I love their partnership and friendship. I love it when they band together because they work so damn well together.

Honestly, more than the 'will they, won't they' of Alicia and Will my investment is solely on Will and Diane's partnership:

DIANE: We’re the perfect couple.
WILL: Everything but the sex.

And, my secret wish is that Alicia and Cary can reconcile and be the next generation's Will and Diane with Kalinda as their awesome head investigator.

I did like the addition of Owen because we got to see a glimpse of what made Alicia the Alicia we know and how she could stick with Peter for so long.

But Peter sleeping with Kalinda was the straw that broke the camel's back because its not just some woman any more its Kalinda. Someone she knows and considers to be her best friend and seeing Alicia break from that and show her anger and rawness, and Kalinda being so affected because she's never had a friend like Alicia before...

It was so hard to see their friendship breaking apart. I hope, I really hope they get reconciled because its so difficult to see them so torn apart. These two intensely private people finding a friendship in each other then breaking apart. It's just so difficult to watch.

It's so strange to realize that in this show, much like in Fringe I'm not a shipper. I think Will is interesting but I'm unsure about Will and Alicia together and I hope now that they have the right timing they realize they aren't a fit. I know TGW is about Alicia learning to let go her idealism but I think that in the end their internal morals don't line up and that would be why they won't work out.

I will say TGW's biggest misstep was bringing on Blake. He was just skeevy all the way through and nothing he did made me sympathize with him. This is quite an accomplishment since I adored Scott Porter in Friday Night Lights. Also, they failed to generate any sort of chemistry with Kalinda and Blake. Start to finish it was skeevy.

Bond was also far too paper thin, which is a damn shame since I know the writers can write nuanced antagonists. Michael J. Fox's Canning and Martha J. Plimpton's awesome Patti Nyholm are wonderful examples of this. Bond was just... really a 2D character.

But I'm so, so happy The Good Wife casts were nominated, especially Kyle and Connie from Friday Night Lights! Finally! After all these years!

Also saw X-Men: First Class, I think it's a grand step out of the disaster that was X3 but I came away from the movie with a different opinion from fandom... and I hope I don't get roasted for this but I didn't really find Charles and Erik's friendship/relationship all that interesting. I prefer their relationship more when they are much older and there are legitimate hurts in both sides but what I really found interesting and surprising was Raven/Mystique and Moira.

I wish they'd spent more time on those two. It was interesting to see Moira as a CIA operative in the era of Mad Men and being competent about it except we don't see her as much during the second half of the movie.

But it's Mystique who I found truly interesting. Thinking about her backstory with Charles and the things she's done in X1 and X2 and how far she's come from that. More than Erik, Mystique hurting coming into the mansion, hurting Charles. Charles using her to communicate to Erik.

That carries weight.

She isn't just a minion, she's part of the catalyst. She's lived with humans before and know not all of them deserve the genocide that Erik will carry out in the future.

How did she go from the girl who flinches at the destruction around her to the cool and ruthless assassin we see in X1 and X2?

Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows, Part 2

Still can't process it except to say it was epic and a fantastic end for an equally fantastic series.

I've just started with Haven and I can't wait to get to the good parts. The show is like a mash-up between The X-files and Eureka.

That's how I would've described it, but the creators say The X-files and Northern Exposure, so I defer to them. But keep with it! It takes a bit, but it'll suck you in. ::beams::

Also, YAY Good Wife! LOVE Will and Diane! Their 'perfect couple' moment was one of my favorite interactions of the two of them. It's just such...an adult relationship/partnership. Which is surprisingly rare to see on broadcast.

And, my secret wish is that Alicia and Cary can reconcile and be the next generation's Will and Diane with Kalinda as their awesome head investigator.

LOVE THAT! Now that's my secret wish, too. I've always wished for an Alicia-Cary rapprochement, especially given how lopsided the conflict is. Boys and their damn pride. Hmph.

TGW's biggest misstep was bringing on Blake.

Unfortunately, I really think this was the actor. I don't think Porter was able to portray all the layers that were supposed to exist between the two. So it ended up...like that. Which was unfortunate.

Bond was also far too paper thin, which is a damn shame since I know the writers can write nuanced antagonists.

This was more due to scheduling. Unfortunately Michael Ealy got a cable pilot and had to leave before the show would've otherwise wanted him to. That's why his storyline felt so abrupt. And would've been different otherwise, but. C'est la vie.
