It's been a while since I've blogged about Doctor Who. I've enjoyed some aspects of Eleven's run but as time passed I've grown disappointed with the man he's become. I'm disappointed at how he handles his personal relationships.

This is the first episode of DW that's genuinely happymaking mostly and firstly because the lead up to the Day of the Doctor gave us Peter McGann as Eight! And because I've grown to know more of the Classic Who from Big Finish Audios his voice ultimately gives me shivers up and down my spine.

I cried for Eight but I loved they canonized his BFA Companions. I squee'd when I heard him recite their names.

And so we come to:

The Day of the Doctor

I don't really have anything coherent to say; of course I have my nitpicks and the most of it goes down simply to: I'm really not sure about saving Gallifrey. I'm happy for The Doctor, it would no longer be this shadow that suffocates his very existence but at the same time the guilt and burden has been the very reason for Nine's guilt.

It's the cornerstone of everything for him. Remembering deciding to burn Gallifrey and failing to save Gallifrey brings about a very different kind of mentality. The guilt is the same but its still very different kind of thing. A very different kind of Doctor who will stand before the Dalek Emperor and choose not to press the button.

Also, I very much imagined the circumstances of The Doctor's decision to trigger the burning of Gallifrey as a more Eleventh Hour decision. Literally under a time pressure.

But these are all nitpicks because overall I enjoyed the whole thing. I've missed the joy and the wonder of this show.

I love seeing UNIT being awesome again under Kate Lethbridge-Stewart and her science-y side kicks. It's such a thrill to see them! Clara being clever and the Doctors bickering and being dorks together.

I loved seeing the differences between Ten and Eleven, the way Ten is more direct and to the point amidst the babbling, more observant actually. Hurt!Doctor learning more. I love the pure joy of seeing ALL the Doctors together and the surprise Twelve Doctor! And such rage in his eyes too. I can't wait for Capaldi to take over!

The very convoluted Bad Wolf | The Moment meta

Let's cut to the chase though the thing I'm really interested in:

The expansion of the Bad Wolf Legend.

I know, I know the entity there claimed she was The Moment, or as [personal profile] selenak calls her: "weapon of mass destruction with a conscience" which is a perfect description of The Bad Wolf too.

This is my Bad Wolf Mytharc headcanon:

The Bad Wolf is still in existence even though Nine took it out of Rose and killed him, it was there briefly in him but its already scattered through time and space.

The Bad Wolf is a creation of Rose and of the TARDIS, in the moment it became Bad Wolf it becames its own entity. There is still a part of the Bad Wolf entity IN Rose buried. On the other end there is still the Bad Wolf that is scattered, that is going through time and space protecting Rose, protecting the Doctor. Manifesting as it needs be.

My basic headcanon is this. During the 4th season, when the stars were vanishing there were two Rose Tylers moving about. The first Rose Tyler is the human Rose we see in Journey's End but the second Rose Tyler, the one we actually get to see vanish in Partners in Crime we never actually get to *see* Rose do that trick again because at that point, she's already a parallel Rose Tyler, someone who's gone farther into the future and undergone a lot of changes: basically she's Bad Wolf Rose.

I think she was the first attempt at reaching the Doctor and she's failed, and she's used Time travel to fix it only to keep getting something wrong until she's forced to utilize her Bad Wolf powers probably both accidentally and through desperate means.

She needed to get her message across through time and space. She's pin pointed the change to Donna and knew she was the key. It's also, that once everything is fixed she will cease to exist. For the moment.

Because in my headcanon, Bad Wolf is Rose's past, present and future. She will eventually become the Bad Wolf.

And so we come to The Moment. A weapon of mass destruction with a conscience.

What if The Doctor really did burn Gallifrey the first time but in so doing he triggered a series of events that will lead back exactly to where we are now? The Moment had a conscience, and it is still a burden to kill a whole race.

What if this burning happened but The Moment was also tormented by it and in comes The Bad Wolf:

source

“ROSE: I am the Bad Wolf. I create myself. I take the words, I scatter them in time and space. A message to lead myself here.
THE DOCTOR: Rose, you’ve got to stop this! You’ve got to stop this now! You’ve got the entire vortex running through your head. You’re gonna burn.
ROSE: I want you safe. My Doctor. Protected from the false god.
DALEK EMPEROR: You can not hurt me. I am immortal.
ROSE: You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space. Every single atom of your existence. And I divide them. Everything must come to death. All things. Everything dies. The Time War ends.”
— Doctor Who - The Parting of the Ways - Series 1

What if The Moment and The Bad Wolf's existence together wasn't a coincidence? What if it latched onto the Bad Wolf because it had knowledge of The Doctor, it had the capability of creating the time warps.

What if The Moment was part of the Bad Wolf and the Bad Wolf was part of the The Moment, that was also part of the Time Vortex, which was in the same place where The Doctor took the weapon too. It becomes a paradox and a closed loop.

And Rose that is part of the Bad Wolf who will become the Bad Wolf who is the Bad Wolf, who the Moment has latched on to fulfills her promise: The Time War will end.

Rose as the Bad Wolf created herself, and scattered herself across time and space, a message to herself to lead her back and to fulfill a promise she's made: to protect the Doctor and end the Time War.

Everything ends, and everything begins again.
