Now that I've finished my Shaw vid (in the bullpen - there's a china doll in the bullpen). I can go back to writing!

BTW the Shaw vid was something in the months in the making and it was such a relief to finish it but I kept fiddling and fiddling with it until I said last night either I upload it now or it'll never get done. So I did and that was a relief.

Although I think I might remaster the vid once I get my hands on a higher quality source. Its too dark right now for my tastes.

Further commentary: I had such a resistance at Shaw being called a hammer by Harold because just looking at Reese as he is and his methods there is nothing subtle or surgical about his methods.

But then I read the thoughts of fellow fans here and I began to rethink it and I did end up liking the Shaw as a Hammer analogy because often times women operators are thought of as surgical, delicate etc., but Shaw for all her height is the heavy hitter. And I tried to show it as much as I could in the vid.

I also included Shaw the connections she made over the course of the season how she is the hammer in the bullpen but its not all of her, that these are the people she's come to think of as important to her.

I might do a vid commentary at a later date.

Now to writing notes: Elementary/Person of Interest fic seems to be plugging along nicely.

I'm really excited to write Root and Moriarty interacting. I think its going to be interesting since they might be similar but I don't think they'd spark well with each other precisely because they are too similar. And they'd be like two cats being remarkably territorial against one another.

I think for the majority of this story I might place the POV on the Elementary side of things, outside looking into the world our characters of Person of Interest live in. I don't think its a world Sherlock and Joan would like to live in, tbh.

As for the Life/Person of Interest fic I think its time I admit that I really can't make it work even if I think of Sam Shaw as Dani Reese its just not workable because:

Charlie needs Dani, especially in the first year. He needed the guidance Dani Reese provided him, he was looking for someone to keep him grounded and he had that with Reese. A Charlie Crews without Dani Reese in the first season is just a disaster waiting to happen and a darker show at that. And I can't bear for Life-verse to be as dark as that.

Life is all about reaching and striving for the light.

Charlie also needed to be a support for Dani too. He doesn't go full all out in his investigation because he's come to care and trust her and thus kept her from being too reckless. He was still reckless but compared at how reckless he could've been? Yeah.

Crews and Reese were two broken people, outsiders in their own department and they've learned to trust each other. Their partnership saved each other in more ways than one.

If Dani had become Shaw, I just can't see how it would end well for either of them. First of all, Crews needed Reese's protection inside the department. He wouldn't last long as a cop without Reese their to protect and become a buffer between Davis and the other cops.

Second, Shaw as we know her? She'd be far too encouraging about Crews's revenge angle in a way that wouldn't be good for the both of them. Reese and Crews are each other's touch points. They tether each other. Charlie won't ever let Dani fall, or not fall too far and Dani will always, always call Charlie back from the brink (hell, she called him back from the dead, she can call him back from anything).

So, I had to accept that this plot won't work. The characters don't match up. I think I might have to cannibalize my Fairly Lethal plotbunny for my Life/Person of Interest crossover. I don't know if I'll still write the Fairly Lethal fic but I finally know how to make a Life/PoI story work!

And that's Dani Reese and Sam Shaw as sisters. Because, y'know what? I think it can work. One became a cop, the other joined the military. Both incredibly tough women in different spectrum.

I might have to work some timeline things around like, maybe moving the Bank of LA shootout from 1991 to 1995. Enough time for Dani and Sam's mother to marry an LAPD cop, get involved in a shoot out and cause a rift within the family, etc.,

It's a long shot but I think it'd work better!
