Oh gosh. I don’t even know what to say... It’s been five years of an amazing journey with this show, the characters and its cast.

It was ambitious and it had missteps, and I have a lot to say about representation they missed out on but at the end of the day its a good show that tried to swing for the fences.

I’m going to miss the cast, not only Tatiana Maslany because I’ve been watching cast interviews and panels and I love how much they all love each other.

The thing I found really interesting is, that the most of the finale dealt with the aftermath, after the war, in a way that we seldom see. Defeating PT and Dr. Virginia Coady was almost a foregone conclusion but seeing them deal with the after? That was even harder to predict.

But I am glad that just this once:

I’m glad we got to see one last new clone!

Going back to something the episode: I love how present Mrs S is in the finale. The moment in earlier in the season where the psychologist told Mrs S that Sarah was struggling on the precipice of being her, I knew Mrs S was going to die.

And in this episode, she took her first steps of being Mrs S. It was a lovely way they intersped Sarah giving birth with Mrs S helping her, and then in turn Sarah helping Helena give birth (to twin boys!).

Then it faded to a timejump where we find out how everyone was: Helena settled in the Hendrix’s garage (how they explain that to the neighbors...), Cosima is continuing to help cure the other Leda’s, Sarah’s taking the GED. Except that there’s no more wars to fight and you can almost see Sarah ready to jump out of her skin.

She hasn’t process losing Mrs S yet, and she’s falling back to running away, and I’m so glad all the clone sisters had one final scene together and shared each of their fears and it helped.

It once again shows that together the Leda clones are stronger together than apart... which brings me to Rachel.

Oh Rachel. She has a new eye to replace the old one, and she willingly gave Felix all the names and files of the other Leda clones. But she’s not invited to join in, which is sad but also understandable, at least now Rachel gets to be herself and live in peace even though she’s missing the one thing she’s always wanted-- family.

I would like to think, down the line, after all wounds have healed Rachel can be welcomed to the sisterhood.

I’m uncertain what it means though, that Helena gave birth to boys, if its saying anything or its just a tribute to the Castors lost but it was a lovely tribute to know that their names are Arthur and Donnie.

I love that we end with Sarah, happy and running to the sunlight with her family because that’s all the happy ending she’s ever wanted.

And then the show ended Orphan Black did a Marvel type after credits clip to thank the fans, because this really was the little Canadian show that could, and I love how much they embraced the fandom and vice versa, even through the rough patches.

Farewell Orphan Black, thank you for the five years.
