MIRRORVERSE MIRRORVERSE!!!!
I’ll be upfront about this and say, I don’t think I have any coherent thoughts about this episode except how much it pleases my hindbrind-- because mirror universe and Our Heroes forced to play the darker versions of themselves in leather?
AWESOME.
Tilly getting into character -- 100% AWESOME. Another moment I loved, Michael deconstructing the Terran Empire, how all their motivation is just fear.
Lorca using a Scottish accent as Chief Engineer -- Heee!
Also, the physicality of Lorca, in leather, and on his knees and the way Michael keeps her hand on Lorca just there. I don't ship it, but, oh my.
And then Burnham having to re-live seeing her crew again and then being forced to kill one of them, and then the crew of Shenzhou clapping and giving way to her seat. That was a chills inducing moment, especially when Burnham takes the captain’s chair as if she belonged to it, said: “Long Live the Terran Empire.”
God, this is going to screw with everyone’s head after this is over-- moar please.
Then the WHAM moment with Ash and Hugh, which I’m reserving judgment because its one thing to kill one of the main crew members unceremoniously and leave a ship without a chief medical officer in the first three episodes of a series, and its another to do it in a middle of a season where there’s in built set-up. I feel there’s something more going on.
(MEANING THIS BETTER NOT BE THE END OF HUGH.)
Ash is so terrified, and so loyal, and I think it was a good choice that the audience more or less knows who he really is underneath because its more heart-wrenching to know how he’s slipping just when he’s falling in love. What becomes of him when Voq surfaces, will he vanish just like smoke or will he persist, changing Voq even more than he thought?
