Also, Emperor Philippa is a horrible horrible person and I am really glad they don’t forget that.
Ash is enjoying himself being around Klingons. Poor Michael though, getting flashbacks.
A TRILL. THERE IS A CAMEO OF A TRILL. Ash is torn between two worlds -- Federation and Klingon, he’s the opposite of Worf and B’Elenna. They were a Klingon (and half-Klingon) in a Federation ship; Meanwhile, Ash is a Human-Klingon hybrid in a Klingon ship.
Ash and Michael’s goodbye was everything and the reveal that L’Rell was also there to witness, what a complicated thing for all three of them.
I love how they resolved the conflict and lighting the way how Michael really did stand for the ideals of Starfleet. She was the compass other people looked to, and she works all the better because of how she climbed through that fall and kept to her ideals.
The _Discovery _crew were lost and kicked down under Lorca, and I could see the almost shell shocked reactions the crew had under Emperor Philippa’s brief command.
I liked that their solution for Philippa wasn’t easy either-- they didn’t shunt Philippa back into her universe, she’s still running around somewhere, and bound to cause trouble for everyone. Michael’s personal ghost, which seems to be a really brilliant set-up for Michael’s Moriarty type nemesis.
(A mall thing but one of the things I don’t appreciate about Bryan Fuller starting Discovery is the carry over of cannibalism from Hannibal, not a fan of that.)
This show really is all about reclaiming what Starfleet means, and what it means to be Klingon, for honor.
They should have translated to English again for L’Rell’s big speech, also L’Rell becomes the leader of United Houses of Klingon.
The crew of _Discovery _are so proud of Michael. And Michael gains her rank bank, I’m so glad!
And now... Captain Pike and the Enterprise!!!
