Notes: Merry Chirstmas! And Happy End of Decade! This vid is my thematic statement on Thirteenth Doctor, or at least, the Thirteen I saw in series 11. I love Thirteen flaws and all. Especially the flaws. She's open and yet in her own way she's the most private of the Doctors, and she calls her team 'fam' while also keeping parts of herself for herself, and she's not as physical distance between them too.
There's a disconnect from her stated creed: be kind, and how she chooses to be in front of people she considers enemies. And I just find that fascinating.
I also believe that everything Thirteen is, is a direct result of everything Twelve did and decided to be. There's a straight line from Twelve to Thirteen.
Congratulations on the mess you made of things
I'm trying to reconstruct the air and all that brings
And oxidation is the compromise you own
But this is beginning to feel like the dog wants her bones, say
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
You force your fire and then you falsify your deeds
Your methods dot the disconnect from all your creeds
And fortune strives to fill the vacuum that it feeds
But this is beginning to feel like the dog's lost her lead, say
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
This is beginning to feel
Like the long winded blues of the never
This is beginning to feel
Like it's curling up slowly and finding a throat to choke
This is beginning to feel
Like the long winded blues of the never
Barely controlled locomotive consuming the picture
And blowing the crows to smoke
This is beginning to feel
Like the long winded blues of the never
Static explosion devoted to crushing the broken
And shoving their souls to ghost
Eternalized, objectified
You set your sights so high
But this is beginning to feel
Like the bolt busted loose from the lever
Never mind, death professor
Your structure's fine, my dust is better
Your victim flies so high
All to catch a bird's eye view of who's next
Never you mind, death professor
Love is life, my love is better
Your victim flies so high
Eyes could be the diamonds confused with who's next
Never you mind, death professor
Your shocks are fine, my struts are better
Your fiction flies so high
Y'all could use a doctor who's sick, who's next?
Never you mind, death professor
Electrified, my love is better
It's crystallized, so am I
All could be the diamond fused with who's next
This is beginning to feel
Like the dawn of the loser forever
This is beginning to feel
Like the dawn of the loser forever
This is beginning to feel
Like the dawn of the loser forever
This is beginning to feel
Like the dawn of the loser forever

Date: 2020-05-09 07:04 pm (UTC)Mostly I just love this vid. I think it's my favourite Thirteen Doctor vid by quite some distance. Meta-vids are my favourite anyway, but this one's the first one I have seen that offers a proper analytical criticism and delve into Thirteen's character. If I ever write the essay on Thirteen that I keep meaning to, this will be top of my list of references.
I am especially impressed that this is a S11 vid, since so much of the meat to Thirteen doesn't show up overtly until S12. So yeah, this is superb. ♥

Date: 2020-08-08 03:06 am (UTC)Thank you for the kind words, I loved her from first and had an instinctive understanding of Thirteen and was pleasantly surprised that my read of Thirteen wasn't far off as she developed further.
Anyway, thank you! I'd love to read your meta whenever you publish it!
