Um... I don't know how to take the JK hate going around. HBP wasn't the book I had in mind but I don't think she deserves the vitriol I'm seeing in the flist.

Like I said in my last post, the main draw for me was Hermione and I was saddened that there was so few Hermione scenes and fewer since showing how brilliant and almost non-existent on how scary she can be.

But.

I liked that Harry is no longer capslocking his anger... he's grown.

Another thing I don't get is how other people think that Snape has gone back to straight evil, when it was to me, clear that Snape wasn't evil. He isn't likeable but I think he will always be the Bothari of the Potterverse. He'll do the dirty, unlikeable work, and he'll do it *well*, even if he has to kill someone he doesn't want to kill.

As suspected by fandom, Dumbledore, does indeed bite the dust. And you can feel it would happen because of all the little things he is doing for Harry... Although, I had a moment's thought that it would be Snape who would die.

And was I the only one who thought Snape was in love with Narcissa?

Speaking of ships. Yes, I am very disappointed that Harry and Hermione didn't get together and that Harry and Ginny did. I really thought that OoTP set-up a real H/Hr vibe, especially the darkening of Hermione.

Here... Hermione was strangely not dark.

Ron was still Ron but he became playboy!Ron for a few chapters there. And what happened to Krum???

And wow, the ending more than made up for everything. I liked how Harry, Ron and Hermione *chose* to do battle. It's shades of Buffy for me. How two people could walk away from the oncoming battle, knowing there would be certain death but because of their loyalty to Harry, and because of who they were, Hermione and Ron decided to be with Harry.

*loves*

Sleepy. Must sleep.
