I need a Lois icon.

I've always loved the women characters more than I've loved the male characters in a show, its one of my requirements in order to be fannish about it. I suppose the only show where I loved both male and female characters equally is Farscape because who could not love John and Aeryn, eh? While I liked Heroes I've not been fannish about the show and Smallville was more like candy to me but the last episode really made me squee in fannish glee.

While Lex and Clark maybe the heart of the show, for me the heart of it is always Lois. She's always been my girl, superman only interested me if Lois was around. She was brash, danger friendly, curious, inquisitive, she won't let anything stand in her way even if it means her death and she's all about the story.

I've been wanting to see Lois in plot A since forever and this episode brought it and ED rose to the occasion brilliantly. I love that she has sources of her own and that she confronted the senator and refused to back down, the only time she'd hesitated was when the senator asked her paper's name. It's been clear, or actually been building all season long that the Inquisitor is no longer enough for Lois.

I love that this episode gave Lois a real purpose for being a reporter. Her reaching out to Wes and her promise to never let what happened to him happen to anyone else struck me as particularly iconic. Because now, she's really in the game and she'll be after the Luthors fulltime and if before Lois only joined Jonathan Kent's campaign out of irritation for Lex she'll cause more trouble than Lex ever imagined.

huzzlewhat was on the nose when she mentioned that Lois being put under the radar was deliberate on the writer's part, I was convinced before but this really confirmed it!

One more thing, Clark watching Wes die in Lois' arms also struck me iconic, at that moment he looked like Superman. I think its a moment of revelation for Clark too, it's always been personal to him but now its more than about personal wrong and right, its about helping change the world for the better.

But I'm not too happy with Clark still pining for Lana, when will that ship die? I like Lady MacBeth!Lana but at the rate their going it frustrates me that Clark can't get away from his fixation from Lana. Although, it's saying something that Clark said: 'This isn't abou us, it's Lois." or something to that effect.
