First ever
pers_pineapple , y'all need to be wandering there now. Some fascinating discussions are going on and the meta is free flowing. It's really great reading all the thoughtful posts on the pilot episode. The pilot really does benefit upon rewatch, it gets better, especially since it lays on the ground works for the whole series.
Anyway, why are you still here? Mosey on here for fresh, insightful meta!
I've also been watching The Wire and like what other people said, it is a very good show but I'm still not in a point where I'm fannish about it but what I find interesting is how in a cursory way Life shares a lot of things with The Wire. I've often heard it stated that many consider The Wire as a visual novel, in a lot of ways, Life feels the same way too, Life is like The Wire's younger sibling, while The Wire tackles broad grand themes (or so I assume, since I've only just finished the first season), Life takes on a more personal and character based approach.
Although The Wire does great characters too.
One of the interesting things I love about Life and The Wire is that they let detectives do the detecting, they don't just rely on forensics to *do* everything. The detectives do the research, work the streets and question witnesses and suspects. Of course, The Wire is so much more realistic in this aspect but I love that Life is no slouch in this department either. I love that Charlie and Dani are so hands on in the crime scene, it makes them more believable as detectives.
Also, after learning that one of the writers/producers of
Because if Ted's right and that's Charlie's strategy the Bank of LA money could have gone anywhere. The conspiracy could go as high up as the city Mayor and how many people implicated along the way will make things more dangerous for Charlie.

worked on The Wire, I've become more interested in the things they're alike and how it could work for Life. One of the major things the team in The Wire were working on was Avon Barksdale's drug syndicate and, how, eventually if you follow the money it could go anywhere-- which was proven true when Lester and the detective with a really hard name to spell followed the money trail as high up to the senate. Because if Ted's right and that's Charlie's strategy the Bank of LA money could have gone anywhere. The conspiracy could go as high up as the city Mayor and how many people implicated along the way will make things more dangerous for Charlie.
