Finally caught up with Smallville. I missed this show, it does have its way with crack.

Gemini. Great Lois episode. I have to say, much as I love Erica Durance's portrayal of Lois there were times that had some over the top expressions but over the years she's grown, I love how restrained she was and fantastic during a crisis. Focused, determined, smart and self-depercating.

Lois facing off with Lex was electric, they really spark on screen.

Persona. Grant Gabriel won me in the end but as much as I've grown to like him I really wish the writers didn't push for a Lois/Grant relationship. No matter how likeable they eventually became in the eyes of other fans its going to taint their perception of Lois and I really wanted a Lois story that wasn't dependent on a man. I wanted it to be her story on how she finally became the tough, no holds barred reporter we all know she'll become because she fought for it.

I would love some gen in my story, if that makes any sense...

I love how they're slowly breaking down Lana and Clark's relationship but Jor-El's AI trapping Clark in the Fortress didn't make any sort of sense.

Brainiac and Bizarro on the other hand were perfect.

Siren. Black Canary is introduced and Green Arrow returns!

Okay, no offense to Ms. Sullivan but I just can't get over feeling like she's taking over a role that was created by Barbara Gordon. I really don't like the feeling that she's elbowing out Barbara Gordon. It just doesn't sit right with me especially since I know most of the fans aren't comic book readers and might think it was Chloe who originated the 'Oracle' concept. And I... dislike the condescending attitude she has towards Lana re: computer skills. I know she has some TV magic computer skillz but its also a possiblity that another person can acquire the skill too.

Also, I'm very handwavy with my TV computer magic but there are limits to my suspension of disbelief.

Clark and Lana. Again, I love the slow dissolution of Clark and Lana's relationship and the fact that they are finally talking to each other. I love that they're faced up with the truth now. They both have high expectations of each other that they won't be able to live up to.

Lois and Oliver. I'm glad that they acknowledge that for Lois Grant was a rebound. She cared about him but she didn't love him. And I guess Lionel didn't advertise Grant's death to the world yet.

Lois and Oliver still have fantastic chemistry and glad Lois is finally in on the secret. I know right at this moment Lois thinks she can't handle loving a man with a greater destiny but I think its more of a case of... at this moment, not really loving Oliver enough to risk it. Time and again we've seen her heartbroken and she always managed to bounce back, or she just puts up a real brave face for the world but even the strongest person can't hold it in for so long.

I love that she has abandonment issues and is aware of it and also mature enough to realize, to know that sometimes a person's destiny is bigger than them. It's what comes of being a General's daughter but what impressed me is her resigination and understanding... which leads us to...

Lois and Clark. Oh, show. You really know how to keep a girl coming back, don't you? You're so my abusive show boyfriend. Just when I think you're not going to give any more crumbs you start throwing everything but the kitchen sink and I just have to stay.

These two... they've really come a long way, from barely able to stand a minute with each other to Clark actively comforting and understanding towards Lois. And Lois, finally letting her guard down enough to accept a hug from Clark.

In their lowest moments they were able to witness sides other people rarely see, I'm not saying they're always there for each other, just the times where I think it mattered to them emotionally, and something that would impact on their lives forever. From Alicia's death, to Clark almost killing Alicia's killer, to Clark witnessing Wes' death in Lois's arms.

It also struck me that Clark, was for once, at the other side of the argument. Now he's the one actively pushing for Lois to pursue her relationship with Oliver despite the dual identity but also, that he wasn't *pushy* about it. Just giving Lois another perspective and Lois responds with honesty. Not just blustery honesty but a more emotional truth. She's afraid of being left behind, of not being strong enough to love someone who's calling is greater than her own. Her father has done it to her and she's grown to accept it but at that point of time Lois can't see herself, won't allow herself to love another man who'll always put her second to the world.

At least, that's what she thinks for now.

It's also amazing how mature and how much this scene lacks angst. And no matter how sad the revelations are, I loved that somehow Lois still made Clark smile.

That's something for their future.

Also, this is a great way to establish another obstacle for Clark and Lois getting together. Once Clark takes up the mantle of Superman, its hard not to figure out Clark=Superman, my theory is that Lois will know but she's going to do a damn fine job on pretending not to know because she just can't afford it, or risk acknowledging that her good some times weird friend, Clark is also Superman, who periodically risks his life for the world.

Its going to be willful blindness for her part.
