Criminal Minds. I finally succumbed and watched the first episode of Criminal Minds, I've seen a lot of people on LJ squee about this show but I couldn't get pass the first few minutes of the pilot episode when I first saw it on TV. I thought it was going to be gruesome and overwrought and another CSI knock-off, I'm glad to say now that I've managed to sit down and actually finish the pilot I like it.

I like that it's an ensemble show, also, I think my new mantra: Never Judge A Show By Its Pilot helped.

Took me a while to figure out where I saw Gideon, he's Inigo Montoya! The characters were all well rounded and interesting and the ending was a great cliffhanger. Can't say if I'll be fannish about this show yet but I like it.

Saving Grace. This really needed a push from my new mantra really hard. I didn't like Grace as much as I thought I would and, boy, was I surprised to see a lot of skin the first few seconds in. I guess I've gotten used to not seeing so much flesh that I had to sit back before continuing. Also, I couldn't help but feel like... I don't know being forced into something with Earl and the way people kept saying 'God', which I usually don't have an issue with. Earl, I don't know yet.

Grace's partner, Hume, isn't interesting even when he's all naked (interesting choice for the partners to be sleeping together) but I like Bailey Chase's character so much better. Also, Grace's Lieutenant is Carl Ames! The Lead Detective in Charlie Crews' murder case!

Compared to The Closer, I liked Brenda and between the two I'd pick Brenda over Grace. Also, I can't help but thinking Dani Reese would think Grace's car was ridiculous. Maybe I'll warm up to the character on the second, third episodes.

Mostly, I'm just watching for Bailey Chase now.

Dexter. The second season was a roller coaster ride and it pulled viewers along and it was so well paced that I didn't think I couldn't breathe proper while watching. The writers really know how to pile on suspense.

Things I love
I love that they've made Rita a more well rounded, and awesome, person. I also came to love Deb very much, her relationship with Lundy. It took 'til the second to the last ep for me to appreciate Lundy-Deb relationship.

And, wow, what they did to Doakes and LaGuerta... these were the two people I didn't like in the first season but I've made a quick turnaround about my opinion of both in light of their affection to each other, their history.

Things I didn't

I didn't like Lila, but I saw her point as a plot device but I don't like Lila, and I liked her in Hustle! I didn't like the way Esme was booted out of the position, since the actress was a tough ball busting CIA unit head in Jake 2.0.

But more surprisingly, I ended disliking Dexter. I was okay with Dexter rebelling against Harry but the way he seemed so cavalier about Doakes' death. The way he was acting and Doakes' dying hit me really hard and ended with my dislike of Dexter.

Now off to sleep. It's really, really late here.
