grimorie: (Nine&Rose)

Oh, I really liked this one.

Donna really works as a companion for Ten, I loved that she continued to question him, that she stood her ground. She didn't budge from her position but when it became clear that the option was either Pompeii or the world and that Ten froze on the trigger, frozen again with the prospect of destroying lives, 20,000 souls she shared his burden. And, I find, I'm liking Ten again because of this, particularly when he returned and saved the family.

This season seems to be shaping up towards something and throughout I've been feeling a sense of deja vu, it felt like watching season 1. I don't know why, the dynamic was familiar. Not in the romantic sense but in the sense that this one works, a whole lot more than Ten and Rose and, I know this is an unpopular opinion, even more than Ten and Martha.

Loved that Donna questioned Ten about the translation and that they were told they looked like brother and sister, which I laughed loud but when I squint they do have that vibe don't they? And, wow, that's a refreshing change of pace.

So, something haunting Donna too? Daughter of London. I wonder if that's significant.

She is returning

That sounds ominous. Did the seer mean Rose? Or something else, or if he did mean Rose, is it the Rose we know? Or will we find that she's some sort of hybrid of the Bad Wolf and Rose? (I will cling to the Bad Wolf until it's resolved to my satisfaction!) Whatever it is, the way the seer told it, the way the Doctor recieved the news it wasn't happy. It was ominous. Something is coming and it won't be good.

I could have done without the episode tag though, although if it's going to bite Ten in the ass bring it on. Oh, and, ooh my sister just reminded me that the LINDA (Love and Monsters) mentioned that there was a picture of Ten found in Rome with the blue box, if that's so yay, continuity!

In closing, I love Donna! I knew I would! I love that at the end, Ten acknowledges that he does need someone like Donna and the 'Welcome aboard' bit was lovely. It felt right to have it there.

This was a thousand times better than the premiere.
