Now, see I was supposed to mainline The Vampire Diaries instead I found myself mainlining Fringe. I've seen the pilot when it first appeared and somehow I never found the drive continue past the second episode.

Fringe 1x01-20- I think one of the factors why I didn't get past the first two episodes the first time was because I had developed a weird resentment with the way everyone was touting Fringe as the new, better X-Files. And I hated the way Broyles and Pacey Peter kept calling Olivia 'honey' and 'sweetheart'. Especially Peter who looked like... well, still Pacey and shouldn't be calling anyone 'sweetheart' in that condescending tone.

On the re-watch I'm still annoyed with both Broyles and Peter but this time I realized Olivia wasn't having any of their boys club talk and thus begin the many of Olivia's awesome controlled but take charge put downs. Broyles was subjected to a lot of her incisive rants and each time you could see his respect for her growing until he becomes Olivia's staunchest allies.

Of course it didn't take me long to love Broyles, he's Lt. Cedric Daniels from The Wire!

But there were two people I was surprised into loving more than I thought I would: Charlie and Walter.

I honestly didn't think much of Charlie at the first and then he went to Walter's lab, sees all these crazy equipment as he briefs Olivia then a cow moos behind him, he glances once then asks part-skeptical and part-deadpan, "Is that a cow?"

I cracked-up, it was all in the delivery! I think I might attempt to drop that question in that same delivery whenever something weird happens and there's no other response but to ask: 'Is that a cow?'

From that moment on I loved Charlie he's so awesome and deadpan and just full on support of Olivia I sort of shipped them in a vague way but never serious way and when I learned Charlie had a wife I dropped the shipping and besides they work well as colleagues and that's rare!

As for Walter, I never expected to like him the way I did I thought he was just going to be random genius guy but as the episodes progressed and John Noble was given to stretch his acting Walter became more and more complex and broken.

And, then, of course Special Agent Olivia 'BAMF' Dunham, FBI. When people told me I was going to love her they were not wrong! She hits the stoic, controlled character kink I have (see icon) but without becoming a robot, she laughs and cries and makes pancakes for her niece and remember the time I loved Dani Reese for intimidating and clocking her hostage taker with a vodka bottle? It was the move that made me love Reese forever and ever and ever and its the same move that made me love Olivia Dunham forever.

Except in her case she smashes a glass on one of her kidnapper's face then she throws a scalpel at another all the while she was strapped down to a bed! And that was all done before the teaser!

I love how constantly in charge Olivia is and that every fight scene she's in is believable because the fights aren't flashy and the moves were something I can see a former Marine would use (did I mention Olivia was a former Marine investigator! Yes, she was in the Marines!).

I also love that Olivia isn't sexualized, she's sexy but it doesn't feel like the camera lingers on her figure too much, when she's in a tank of water with only her underwear it doesn't feel like Olivia's in the tank with only her underwear, it felt like Olivia was in a tank of water.

(On a rambling sidenote: I remain bitter about how Reese's look transformed from no-nonsense cop to wearing too tight pants with tight shirts and instead of sensible boots to wearing two to three-inch heels shoes! How can she run after criminals in those heels?!)

But most of all, I love how when Broyles (before he became an awesome boss) or Harris tried to dress her down about becoming too emotional she throws it right back to their faces, embraces it and tells them in no uncertain terms she's going to solve her case which she always does!

As for Mr. Peter 'Pacey' Bishop... well, I like him but I don't find him interesting. I also do not ship him with Olivia. At all. I feel like the show wants me to ship them together but I just don't feel it. I ship Olivia more with her ex in Germany than with Peter, heck, I ship Peter more with Olivia's sister than with Olivia!

It's just... I just don't feel the chemistry! Barring Star Trek 2009's Uhura/Spock and Jack/Irina there are hardly any canon JJ Abrams pairing I ship.

Lastly, Spock! Leonard Nimoy appears after the episode where a crazy theorist claims he is Spock from Star Trek!

Dear Mr. Abrams,

I saw what you did there!

Love,

Me

In conclusion, where can I get Olivia icons?

Burn Notice: 4x01 - Oh, Mike. Oh, Maddie. You've both come so far, for Mike to reveal as much as he did to his mom and for Maddie to reach out and not lash out about his absence and accept and ultimately comforting Michael, you've really grown so, so much.

I love Mike pouting though but I wish Fi would give more... I guess this time Fi's playing things more close to the chest, which is really flipping their emotional positions in S1 but I hope they show more about Fi's side of things, maybe when things slow down.

Fi did look good as a biker chick and continues to do awesome things, it's always good to see Fi or Sam go undercover.

Sam remains awesome.

Plus, Michael's new handler is Bunny Colvin from The Wire!
