Pan-Am

Oh, I like this! I've been side-eyeing Playboy Club and all the things they're trying to sell about the show but this one I really like!

I hope someone retires like Mad Men only with planes because it doesn't even have the sense of it. It's set in the past but I feel its more of a fun escapist show with a lot of female characters who are in it for the Adventure and world travel.

Also, there are spies and cold war shenanigans and I'm perfectly fine accepting Pan Am for what it is, fun!

Revenge

For the truly wronged, real satisfaction can only be found in one of two places: absolute forgiveness or mortal vindication. This is not a story about forgiveness.

Guys, you are all fired for not telling me a gender flipped version of The Count of Monte Cristo was in the works!

So far I'm enjoying more than Ringer! Sorry, SMG. Although I will catch-up to your show too!

Eleventh Doctor's defining moment. Or, at least it is for me, see if my brother showed me this clip the first time I think I would have immediately started watching Eleven's run as the Doctor but y'know I do like that it was River who brought me back.

But the part where Eleven walks through Ten's image and then suddenly it clicks in your head, he is the Doctor.

Basically, Run.

And look what I found!

Seventh Doctor defends the Pandorica!

Sylvester McCoy does a reading of this scene during the DragonCon 2011 and a fan edits it down to remove the audience clapping and added in the music:

Boy, now I see the similarities between Eleventy and Seven, I know a few people compared Ten with Seven but I think this is a far more apt comparison. Also, here's Matt Smith's Eleven doing the same speech:

Kitchen Confidential

This show premiered the same year as How I Met Your Mother but where HIMYM thrived KC was cut down. I didn't give KC the time of day then despite having Bradley Cooper and Nicholas Brendon but then again I'm glad I only discovered the show now, after time and distance because I'd accept the cancelation easily.

It's a fun show and a bonus, I didn't know Owain Yeoman's here! I didn't even know he was really British 'til this show! (BTW, Yeoman was also in GK!)

Also, it has a lot of food, who wouldn't love that?

Merlin Season 2

I have a confession, I didn't watch this season all the way through... I'm not that enthusiastic of the show and I admit I only watch for Gwen and the Gwen and Arthur so I cheated and only watched those moments.

I think I'd be more interested in this show if it was the story of Gwen becoming Guinevere, the Queen of Camelot. It's interesting to me how in this world, Gwen doesn't even have the advantage of nobility. Here, we see Gwen really cares for the people of Camelot because she is one of them, she sees how much Uther's laws are affecting the people and I love that Gwen constantly challenges Arthur to be a better man and more, that Arthur is rising up to the challenge. We see that if he is confronted with the truth he does listen, you just have to slap the truth into him.

Summary: Five times Gwen had an epiphany. Apprenticeship of a Queen.

Is there any surprise I rec'd this? I love it because its gen and it's about Gwen coming into her own and really, that's all I really want.

So. NBC. Moving Leno back an hour.

I have so many things to say but it all it seems to boil down to is: Other networks are laughing at you so hard. I bet they even had a betting pool going just when you'll cave.

I really have to wonder how long I'm going to mourn Life. It's really ridiculous how I let the show get under my skin and even more ridiculous is how I'm unable to let go.

I don't even bother to watch the shows I used to watch or if I do I don't even bother to blog about.

I know Bones, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist, and Castle are all awesome but... well, I don't feel the need to check them out. What is up with that?

More and more I feel myself drawn to the quiet slice of life dramas than the flashbang, snazzy series. Or, okay, I'm still drawn to them but not as much as I used to be all starry eyed about it.

It was the quiet character moments and the camaraderie between Crews and Reese that made me fall for Life and it was these moments the second season lacked IMHO. Especially when the showrunners and NBC decided to go for slick. It's a mistake they never really recovered from because for all it's procedural trappings Life really isn't a procedural.

It's more gentle and forgiving of human frailties and, a lot more hopeful than a regular cop show.

I suppose it's why I've turned to anime because there's surprisingly a lot of gentle slice of life anime dramas that's weaved together by a beautiful and haunting soundtrack.

In short, the first few paragraphs were part of my long winded introduction to Honey & Clover a two season anime series about art students in college.

Just that. No forces of darkness to fight, no giant robots on a rampage but students and teachers. People struggling to get by and finding some sort of meaning in their lives. It's bittersweet and funny with unrequited love and love triangles that don't make me want to scratch my eyes out because everyone is treated fairly and no one is a villain in the story.

It's one of the more affecting shows I've seen in a while and I couldn't believe how fast I was drawn into the character's lives, more, how fast I came to care for them. It's really amazing how manga/anime can build such a big cast but make everyone distinct and unforgettable. I particularly love the friendships formed and how the series show us the little moments that, as the series progresses become such a huge fabric of their lives.

Most unaired pilots I've seen are not that good BtVS's unaired pilot and from what I've seen and gleaned from the script Life's unaired pilot kind of sucked.

There's the other end of the spectrum where the unaired pilots are actually quite good. And then there's the odd duck where the unaired pilot is actually better than the one aired.

Dollhouse's unaired pilot falls in the third category. No, really. It's actually better than the script I read.

Moar interviews, this time from [personal profile] angstbunny:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on ...

This is entirely gratuitous and senseless but here goes: I am fascinated with Charlie's long legs. I'm also fascinated by the way he enters and exits cars. He's so tall he has to bend to enter a car. And the way he does it is so interesting to watch.

2) Without telling anyone who's on the list or the character's assigned number, get questions from your flist about what they'd like to know about them, i.e. "If 3 and 4 were trapped in a cave together with only a blanket and a toothpick, what would they do?"

Since the sum total of fic I've written can be counted in one tiny hand I decided to go with this:

Give me a pairing and I will write you a sentence or two (possibly ficcish, possibly discussion-ish) about the characters' love for each other. Whatever I write will be all about the happy stuff -- no breakups, no angst, no irony. It doesn't need to be a romantic/sexual pairing, either.

I again, ventured and watched the STAR WORLD broadcast of Life featuring Let Her Go. Seriously. Life without its original music makes me want to cry.

The person who picked the alternative music fails at Life. Literally. The music is so low key and it's just... the awesome scenes are not as awesome because of the music change. I eeded a pick me up after this and fortunately, the universe was kind enough to provide one... in the form of the hotness of one Damian Lewis.

These pictures were taken, if I'm not mistaken from the recent Sundance Festival. And, guh, Damian Lewis is a fine, fine man.
